Preschool Technology Readiness Mission

The purpose of this blog is to explore the use of technology in the preschool classroom, considering different ideas, research, and methods, and to build a community of educators, parents, techies, and anyone interested in technology in preschool, where we can share our ideas and knowledge. We, the authors and contributors, are Early Childhood Education students, currently studying ECE Curriculum. Our textbook, The Creative Curriculum For Preschool (Diane Trister Dodge, Laura J. Colker, and Cate Heroman), is the foundation of our site, specifically with its chapter on computers (chapter 15).

We invite you, our readers, to reflect upon the importance of computers in preschool and consider the questions involved. Also, to share your experiences, knowledge, and resources with us, and those who frequent our blog.

Thank You!

My opinion on Computers

My opinion that introducing children at a young age to computers helps their development and introduces them to the new world of technology.  As a mother of two boys: Adrian 9 and Angel 7, they both know how to use a computer and their dad's smart phone. They first learned how to work the computer during their preschool year and as Adrian got older and went on to elementary school he was taught who to use some programs. They both attend Central Elementary School in Belmont. Central has one computer lab for the school but manage to get all the kids in to learn math and language arts.  Adrian as a big brother he has thought Angel how to play games on the computer.  Computers have worked for my children's education and as a parent I approve for children to learn how to use a computer.
